Tauranga Bay
The architectural style of the house is unique, and the setting commanding.
The landscaping had to be complementary, and minimalist so not to detract from these two very dominant features.
The uses of native species harmonise with the setting and are easily maintained on this very exposed site.
Structural plants such as Cabbage tree, Punga and Nikau add height and architectural form to the garden while the Poa and Phormium link the house into the surrounding landscape.
The layout of the garden follows the lines of the house, reinforcing the presence and design of the dwelling.
Natural materials such as the Brustic fence and pebble pathways all complement the setting and native planting theme.
